News Brief
SEAPAL Vallarta reported that new school drinking fountains were intended to provide free water to 1,040 students at General Secondary School 119 in Ixtapa.
In a report published October 16, 2026, SEAPAL Vallarta said it had inaugurated new Bebederos Escolares—school drinking fountains—at the school. The utility described the water as potable, purified and cold, and said access would be free during the school day.
According to the utility's account, SEAPAL Vallarta General Director Carlos Ruiz attended the inauguration and said the utility would continue expanding its social programs and commitments related to education. He said schools are a priority and that the goal is for students to have better conditions for learning, exercising and developing in dignified, healthy spaces.
The same report quotes school director Gabriel Villafuerte Grajeda as saying the fountains would strengthen daily school activities while encouraging students to use reusable bottles and containers. He said the infrastructure promotes reuse and environmental care among the student body.
SEAPAL also reported that student representative Renata Valentina Rodríguez said having drinking fountains available each day would help students care for their health, remain attentive in class and reduce family expenses. These are statements reported by the utility, rather than interviews conducted by Vallarta Today. The report does not specify the inauguration date; current operation and water quality have not been independently verified.
