SEAPAL says four drinking-water extensions and two sanitary-drainage extensions will benefit 160 residents in La Mina I and II in Ixtapa.
Puerto Vallarta's water and sewer utility, SEAPAL, reported on September 22 that work had begun on six network extensions intended to address long-standing service gaps in the La Mina I and La Mina II neighborhoods.
According to the utility, the package includes four drinking-water extensions using 232 linear meters of three-inch pipe and two sanitary-drainage extensions using 191 linear meters of 10-inch pipe. SEAPAL said the projects will benefit 160 residents and add infrastructure for families in Ixtapa.
María Ramírez Gómez, whom SEAPAL identified as an 18-year resident of La Mina I, said drainage was a service she had requested for years. She said access to the service would make an important difference in her daily life.
SEAPAL also quoted Ramón González Gudiño, who welcomed the planned introduction of drinking water in La Mina I after pursuing the service for at least three years. The utility said he viewed the start of the project as the fulfillment of a neighborhood request.
The release credited the municipal government led by Luis Munguía and SEAPAL, headed by Carlos Ruiz, with advancing the projects. It did not provide construction-completion dates or say when individual homes would begin receiving the new services.
