The municipal water utility says seven drinking fountains are planned for sports, civic and tourist-area locations in Puerto Vallarta during the program’s first stage.

SEAPAL Vallarta announced on August 7, 2026, that it will launch the first stage of its Public Drinking Fountains program, with seven modern units planned at strategic locations in Puerto Vallarta.

According to the utility, three fountains will be installed at the Unidad Deportiva Agustín Flores Contreras sports complex. One unit each is planned for the Centro Cultural y Módulo Deportivo La Lija, SEAPAL Vallarta’s central offices, the Unidad Municipal Administrativa (UMA), and the Malecón.

SEAPAL said the Malecón installation had already been discussed with neighborhood residents and merchants in the city center as part of a dialogue and consensus process. The announcement said the initiative has the support of architect Luis Ernesto Munguía.

The utility described the program as complementary to its School Drinking Fountains program. SEAPAL said the units are intended to provide free, fresh drinking water suitable for human consumption to residents, athletes, visitors and workers in high-traffic public spaces, while promoting hydration during the hot season and helping reduce spending on bottled water.
