doesmobilephoneMy son is a geek, one of those guys who has the latest gadgets and actually knows how to use them. He told me this week he was excited because he is finally getting rid of his old mobile plan and is jumping into a new Samsung Galaxy Note® II from Sprint. His face was glowing and he was all keyed up.

Now, this is the same guy who convinced me a few years ago to join his plan because it was the best thing since sliced bread. An inspired graphic designer, accomplished musician and well-liked ballroom instructor, he used to talk about PCs with disdain, so you know where he is coming from.

“But don’t you worry, Mom, there is a phone for every personality, including yours!” He then went on to explain to a fourth grader—that would be me—why he was choosing a phone for every member in the family.
What mobile phone match your personality?

The Samsung Galaxy Note II runs on an Android™-powered Jelly Bean, he explains. It’s a 4G LTE device that moves at the speed of light. Just like him, this phone never slows down. For multitaskers, web researchers and communicators, the device really works seamlessly.

“Look,” he says, “I can sketch an idea and send it to a client. I can even send dance choreography videos to my TV or transfer them to my students, and download tons of music!”  I noticed that it is definitely a large phone and it’s fast!  It moves between home screens and switches between apps without dragging or freezing.

He then continued to remind me how much I hate the touch screen keyboard on my phone—the one he advised me to buy—and why I need to get a Motorola  PHOTONTM Q  with a physical QWERTY keyboard that even lights up so you can write your texts and emails at night or in dimmed rooms. It offers great quality on calls and voice messaging even when driving or in noisy environments, and it also has Drive Smart options to avoid distractions. “It shoots off texts and emails fast so you can be in touch with clients and your editor,” he continued.

“And you know how you are concerned about the environment? Well, the PHOTON is Platinum certified, which means it meets the highest level of environmental performance established by UL Environment,” he says while he shows me the 1354 reviews he has researched online

He then went on to explain that he thought “the Viper” would be best for his wife. The LG ViperTM  is a high-spec’d device with a really slick design. His wife is the house organizer and shopper so the Viper QuickMemo™ is perfect for remembering the price of a pair of shoes for their toddler or for writing a pediatrician’s appointment reminder on the touch screen.

She can also send her friends a note on a map with the exact location of a new store she found or ask them what they think about her new dress by just scrabbling a quick note on the screen. And she can pay on-the-go at participating retailers with Google Wallet™, the latest Near-Field Communication (NFC) technology—a shopper’s dream!

Right when I’m about to argue about all the money I spent on the “other phone,” he comes across with a smile. “Don’t worry, Mom, you can also get a LG Rumor ReflexTM ; it’s affordable and has a QWERTY keyboard for all your texting needs and you can easily check your Twitter and Facebook pages.” The best part about all of this,” he adds, “is that with Sprint’s Truly UnlimitedSM plans you’ll never have to worry about sharing, metering, throttling or overages while on the Sprint network . It’s really hassle free!”
