SEAPAL Vallarta said it used water tankers and other vehicles to supply neighborhoods, hospitals and health centers affected by an interruption in service.
Puerto Vallarta’s water utility, SEAPAL Vallarta, reported delivering more than 4 million liters of drinking water during a recent supply contingency that it linked to delays in work by a highway concessionaire.
According to SEAPAL, the utility launched an extraordinary distribution operation using its own water tankers and support units. It said hospitals, health centers and the neighborhoods with the greatest impacts were prioritized during the response.
The agency identified Las Juntas, Vallarta 500, Las Mojoneras, Guadalupe Victoria, Los Portales, and the middle and upper areas of El Pitillal among the places served. SEAPAL said its operation remained active throughout the contingency in areas where regular water service was still interrupted.
Distribution included routes and designated delivery points, according to the utility. SEAPAL said it coordinated tankers with capacities of 10,000 and 20,000 liters, as well as official and privately owned pickup trucks equipped with water storage tanks known locally as tinacos.
SEAPAL characterized the operation as an effort to reduce the effects on families of the interruption associated with the delayed highway work. The utility did not provide dates for the contingency or identify the concessionaire in the information released.
