With constant maintenance and cleaning by the government headed by Ramón Guerrero Martínez, the five municipal cemeteries of Puerto Vallarta are ready to welcome the nearly 160,000 people estimated to visit on November 1 & 2 in honoring Day of the Dead.

Improvements have included much cleaning, trash and debris removal and addition of the Day of the Dead theme.

"Truth shines when our cemetery is in clean and perfect condition without debris or rubbish that can collect in walkways and open graves," said Rafael Arroyo on the conditions encountered by the Cemetery in the December 5 colony.

In regards to the Cemetery of Ramblases colony, María Constanza Peña Almaraz also highlighted the good conditions found. "It's fine, very clean, looks in good maintenance and is a great improvement from conditions in the past."

In visiting the cemetery of El Progreso, José Efraín Alatorre recognized that this space looks to be in good condition today and "now it is very nice, all different, the tombs are very clean and is now much better than before."

Carlos Mendoza, head of Cemeteries in Puerto Vallarta, said that the maintenance in each of the enclosures at Ixtapa, Las Palmas, El Progreso, Ramblases and December 5 are currently "working a hundred percent and today we have the best conditions ever in the history of Vallarta cemeteries."

He said this is a result of the support provided by Mayor Ramon Guerrero, council members and holders of Infrastructure and Municipal Services, but most of all the commitment we have with Puerto Vallarta and its people "we are doing it with less public servants with smaller budget but with more enthusiasm and energy to provide the best results."
