State Fencing Championship Report.

The atmosphere was charged with energy last Saturday, March 16, at the Code Revolución facilities in Guadalajara, Jalisco. The State Fencing Championship, the last state competition of the 2024-2025 season, brought together the state's best swordsmen to demonstrate their skill and courage in a discipline that demands a cool head and sharp reflexes.

Participating categories included Pre-Children's Saber, Children's Saber A and B, Cadets, and Open. Eight courageous athletes from Vallarta dueled with passion and dedication. The results reflected the intensity of the bouts: in the Children's A category, Dante de la Torre Fernández placed 5th, while Iyari López Cueto Vélez earned the bronze with an outstanding 3rd place.

The Cadet category competitions were vibrant. Sofía Díaz de León Rodríguez placed 8th, Iballa Kai Finer Nava finished 7th, and Julieta de la Torre Fernández finished in a solid 5th. In the Open category, Jorge Alberto Tovar Villaseñor placed 7th and Regina Montiel Esparza placed 8th, demonstrating an impressive competitive level. In the Children's B category, Ximena González Acosta finished 5th with a combative performance.

Although the results were mixed, the competitive spirit and the learning gained from each bout were invaluable. The event measured not only technical skills but also the athletes' ability to handle pressure and adapt to their opponents. Fencing is not only a sport of strength, but a duel of intelligence, speed, and precision.

All eyes are now on the qualifier, which will be held in Tijuana, Baja California, next May. Before this crucial competition, the Vallarta fencing team will participate in an intensive training program at the Jalisco Code during the summer season. This type of training seeks to strengthen the athletes' physical, tactical, and mental performance to successfully face their upcoming challenges.

The Vallarta Fencing team, led by Jenny Lobato, has proven to be a breeding ground for talent thanks to an extensive program of tournaments, camps, training camps, and excursions that allow them to gain experience and grow in each match. This project aims to provide opportunities for young Vallarta residents to excel in the sport at the state, national, and international levels.

The passion and dedication of Vallarta fencers are an inspiring example. The future is bright, and fencing continues to forge champions who, with each touch, earn not only medals, but also a mentality of effort and discipline that lasts beyond the track.
