Puerto Vallarta is full of energy.
Puerto Vallarta is ready to move and celebrate well-being with Physical Activity Week, which will take place from March 31st to April 6th, in commemoration of World Physical Activity Day (April 6th). This event, organized by the Puerto Vallarta Government and COMUDE, will bring together a vibrant agenda of activities designed for all ages and levels, promoting a healthy lifestyle in a dynamic and fun environment.
World Physical Activity Day is celebrated every April 6th and was established by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2002 with the goal of promoting movement and combating sedentary lifestyles, one of the main causes of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular problems.
The initiative emerged as part of the "Agita Mundo" (Move the World) campaign, launched in Brazil in 1996, which promoted the importance of physical activity in public health. Based on this effort, the WHO decided to make April 6th an official date to raise global awareness about the need to incorporate exercise into daily life.
Since then, countries around the world have organized activities such as walks, runs, dance classes, and outdoor sports to encourage a more active lifestyle. In cities like Puerto Vallarta, this celebration has taken on great importance, integrating communities, gyms, institutions, and sports groups into special events that promote physical and mental well-being.
The key message of this date is clear: Movement is health! Regardless of age or physical condition, any form of activity helps improve quality of life and prevent disease.
Movement is key to maintaining a healthy life and preventing disease. Physical activity not only strengthens muscles and the heart, but also improves mental and emotional well-being. Here are some scientifically proven reasons why movement is healthy:
Exercise regularly strengthens the heart, improves blood circulation, and reduces the risk of diseases such as hypertension, heart attacks, and strokes. Physical activity burns calories and speeds up metabolism, which helps maintain a healthy weight and prevent problems like obesity.
Regular exercise increases the production of cells that fight viruses and bacteria, making the body more resistant to disease. Exercise releases endorphins, known as happiness hormones, which helps reduce anxiety and stress and improve mood.
Being active reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and some types of cancer, such as colon and breast cancer. Exercise helps regulate the circadian rhythm, promoting deeper, more restful sleep.
People who exercise regularly have more energy throughout the day, which improves concentration, work performance, and academic performance.
Get moving for your well-being!
You don't need to be an athlete to enjoy these benefits. Walking, dancing, swimming, yoga, or any physical activity you enjoy is enough to improve your quality of life. Your body and mind will thank you!
From functional training, dance classes, hikes, and sports circuits, to special events in outdoor spaces, this week will be full of movement and opportunities to improve your quality of life. In addition, health and sports experts will offer advice, workshops, and interactive sessions to encourage physical activity as part of your daily routine.
