Puerto Vallarta’s attractions and the recovery of the traveling market in USA, motivated Southwest Airlines authorities to decide incorporating a new daily flight from Los Angeles, California to Puerto Vallarta starting June 7.
With this new option, we expect an increase of tourist from that area of United States.
In a telephone interview, Brad Hawking, Communication director of Southwest Airlines Corporation, confirmed that Puerto Vallarta is of great interest to Californian tourists, reason why they decided to open a link that starting June7 will be permanently connecting both cities.
With this new air connection, Puerto Vallarta will become the third beach destination, and the fourth in Mexico, to have a daily Southwest Airlines flight. Up to now, Southwest only goes to Los Cabos, Cancun and Mexico City.
“Californians are interested on visiting Mexico, particularly the beach resorts; among their favorites, because of the proximity and the attractions they offer, are Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta”.
Hawking says that they have high expectations that this flight will be welcome by travelers of Los Angeles area; “Vallarta is in the mind of every traveler, and that is a big incentive to give people a flight within their reach, with the quality and service that Southwest offers”.
He also mentioned that flights will start this summer; subject to reconfirmation of US authorities. It is believed that winter will be the best season for them; it is the time when a good number of Californians visit Mexican beaches, particularly Vallarta-Nayarit region.
It is worth mentioning that Southwest practices a business style which is very profitable and unusual in traditional airlines: It flights mostly short segments, with fast rotations at secondary airports, which end up being more efficient and less costly than the big cities; it also mostly uses one type of plane: Boeing 737.
This is a low cost airline airline that has become the largest one in the United States by the number of domestic passengers using it throughout the year. It is the sixth major airline in profits, and maintains the second largest passenger’s airplane fleet of all the commercial airlines in the world.
According to the US Department of Transportation’s statistics, Southwest Airlines has transported more local and international passengers than any other US Airlines since August 2006.
