Municipal Civil Protection is increasing the precautions measures on beaches due to strong waves and the presence of jelly fish, so said Sergio Ramírez López, head of this department who assured that the main thing is to save the integrity of locals and visitors.
We are going to strengthen our presence on the beaches with lifesavers and we will also have distributed ambulances. We are going to enable in a permanent way the module of Conchas Chinas with the presence of an ambulance, which will let us cover the southern zone, but we will also have the availability of paramedics on the beach area and on the malecón".
In addition he mentioned that the lifesavers and paramedics will not only carry out vigilance actions but they will also get close to people to make the pertinent recommendations and prevent a possible risk situation.
He also said that in Playa de Los Muertos, the waves have not been as high as in previous days, however there is the presence of jelly fish, for which bathers are warned about the situation, and so it will be for the next days, for which they also have the collaboration of hotel personnel, who in the same manner inform their guests.
In relation to what should be done when the people, despite the warnings ignore them, and later need to be rescued, the head of the Civil Protection Unit in the municipality clarified that the staff under his command has been less flexible and has been more insistent with the people.
"It is important that the people listen to what we tell them, that they are aware of the recommendations that we give them in order to save their integrity, that they enjoy their trip, because unfortunately the beaches are not always safe when we visit them".
For which he reiterated that it is vital that both the locals and the visitors comply with the indications of the lifesavers, that even when a white flag is shown, there could be the presence of harmful fauna.
In such way, and as it happens these days, there are jellyfish in some beaches of Puerto Vallarta, and even though it doesn't put the bathers' life in danger, it can cause them to pass a bad time and end their day of vacations receiving medical attention.
To finalize, Sergio Ramírez López, noted that this long weekend, all the departments of City Hall have worked in that sense, in saving the integrity of the vacationers, "we are coordinated with the Civil Protection of the State, with the Federal Police which has informed us that they will strengthen their presence in the freeway, besides the traffic police of the municipality and the state".
