art-in-leatherStaring this January 29th and up to next February 9th leather clothing like the one used by the Mayan Shamans, Mexican Revolutionaries and Tamaulipans of 1870, will be displayed at the malecon.

During those twelve days, the Vallartans and visitors will be able to get a closer look at the different clothing that our ancestors wore, from Mayan Shamans, Mexican Revolutionaries, Tamaulipans of 1870, up to ceremonial chiefs, with the objective of showing the cultural and historical wealth that there is in our country.

Up to the moment, there are 22 displayed garments at the malecon, but it is expected that during the following days, seven more are incorporated. These suits are made in a span of in between 15 days to 3 months depending on the leather that is used and the complexity of the garment. Alfonzo Nuño Romero, creator of this clothing, has more than 47 years making these types of suits with the objective of rescuing the legacy of the garments made with skin.

"I do it because no one else does it and because in the museums there are only fragments and I show a consolidated set up, from which we can learn the artisanal work that was done in those times." mentioned Nuño Romero.

It is noteworthy that in his youth Nuño Romero traveled to California where he worked doing movie garments within the historical framework of the XIX century, he also visited different museums and libraries in a way of research, to perfect his garments.
