Everything is ready to start the celebration of the Day of the Dead in Puerto Vallarta. This time they will try to break the Guinness World Record with the tallest catrina in the world, since it is expected to measure 24 meters, surpassing last year's 18 meters, informed the director of Municipal Tourism, Ludwig Estrada Virgen.

"On Thursday we plan to make the inauguration of the catrina, one of the tallest catrinas that has been in Mexico, we are talking about 24 meters, last year it went around the world through social networks a very beautiful catrina, that catrina will also be placed in El Pitillal, which is also something beautiful, but the catrina that comes will be a very beautiful catrina .... Yes, the Ginness Record is going to be sought, it is already being prepared, the second day will be the measurement at seven o'clock in the afternoon, we will also have charro events, we are working with them, a charro parade characterized and later the measurement of the catrina will be done".

On this occasion, for practical reasons, the catrina will be placed in the lighthouse of the malecon, where it can be admired by all the public that attends the night of November 2nd and the following days that the event lasts.

"Now we had to place it near the lighthouse, because as it is a little larger space, on the other side (Los Arcos) we have the race that comes from hiking and was going to take away a little step, and also for people who are walking on the boardwalk, then it was moved here, and also the damage caused by the hurricane waves, we will see that part to fix it, and the catrina will have a view towards Los Arcos so that all the people can see it, can photograph it, because it could be next to the sea, but it will be difficult to photograph, so what we want is for it to be for the people, and also for all the people who come, we know that many cruise ships come, so that it can be seen from different parts of the country".

MALECON WITH SKULLS

Ludwig Estrada informed that there will also be catrinas along the malecon and altars with the support of the private sector so that the public can admire them.

"We are going to decorate the malecon with skulls, we are going to put the little catrinas as we have done in other years, for which we have been supported by the hoteliers, restaurateurs, businesses, boats, everyone participates with a little one, there will be altars, we are working on that part".

It is also planned to have a presence with this theme at the Unidad Deportiva La Lija and Marina Vallarta for a more complete diffusion of the celebration and so that more public can enjoy the Day of the Dead celebration.
