There will be several days of activities
Once again Puerto Vallarta will be filled with color, aromas, flavors and a distinctly Mexican tradition with the "Day of the Dead Festival", to be held from October 27th to November 5th, organized by the municipal government through the Tourism and Economic Development Department, the Vallarta Institute of Culture (IVC) and SEAPAL Vallarta.
This is one of the most important traditions in Mexico, celebrated by the people of Vallarta and enjoyed by visitors, for which an attractive program has been prepared with the logistical support of various municipal agencies and institutions.
The festival will be inaugurated on Thursday, October 27th in the area of the Malecon Lighthouse, where a pavilion will be set up for various activities. On that initial day, a saxophonist and Grupo Uno will perform, and the most important event will be the lighting of a huge catrina, which will set a Guinness record.
On Saturday 29th the exhibition "Death before your eyes in Puerto Vallarta", of the Itinerant Museum of Mummies of the municipality of Encarnación de Díaz, will be inaugurated at the La Lija Cultural Center.
On Monday 31, the Cuauhtémoc Folkloric Ballet and 'Aladin and the Wonderful Lamp' of the Adopt-a-Dancer Social Project will be presented at the open air theater of Los Arcos del Malecón. In addition, the Ixtapa Delegation will hold its living altars and catrinas contest.
On Tuesday, November 1, at the Arcos del Malecón there will be more cultural activities with a group of singing students and musicians playing Latin instruments, while in the Delegation of Las Palmas there will be a contest of altars and living catrinas.
On Wednesday, November 2, there will be a parade of charros personified on their horses for the celebration. At the Malecon Lighthouse there will be a show on the Historical Evolution of the Day of the Dead and a musical of La Llorona with tenors from Guadalajara. In addition, there will be the measurement of the great catrina and the Guinness Record presentation, and to close the day there will be a video mapping projection and a spectacular pyro-musical show.
On Thursday, November 3, at Los Arcos del Malecón, the Xiutla Folkloric Ballet, the Mía Dance Studio show and a living catrina contest will be presented. On Friday, November 4, on the same stage, there will be an exhibition of rhythmic gymnastics and the presentation of the Coco Show, from the Adopt-a-Dancer Social Project.
The festival will be closed on Saturday, November 5 at the Malecon Lighthouse, where a musical show will be presented.
From the first day of activities there will be altars in the outer corridors of the Municipal Palace, catrinas on palm trees and large skulls and decorations along the Malecon.
