March 31st - Last Saturday, March 29th, many people, businesses and government agencies in Puerto Vallarta dedicated one hour the environment during Earth Hour 2014, amongst those people was the staff of Sheraton Buganvilias, who not only turned off non essential lights between 8:30 and 9:30 in the evening, but also spent the entire day doing activities to help the immediate environment.
The Earth Hour project began as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and is now a worldwide movement that brings together the planet to create awareness, engaged in it now are more than 7,000 cities and towns in the world.
While people in Puerto Vallarta prepared themselves to take advantage of the darkness of Earth Hour to do outdoor activities such as stargaze, the staff at Sheraton Buganvilias was among the people that took the entire day to help our future generations on the planet and create awareness in their employees and guests alike.
One of the most special things that the people at Sheraton do for the planet during Earth Hour since their first year participating, is that they mark each year by planting a tree. Now there are 5 “Earth Hour” trees sitting just past the lobby, be sure to look for them the next time you are there, and watch them grow along with the Sheraton family.
Sheraton Hotel’s administration staff additionally helped the planet and Puerto Vallarta by doing an amazing job of cleaning their surrounding beach, picking up debris, rocks and any type of garbage they could find, leading their families and employees by example.

-Make sure your lights are off during the daytime when there is enough sun to see safely
-Turn off your lights and television before you go to bed
-Unplug appliances that are not necessary to use all day (coffee maker, microwave, radios…)
