Jalisco and Colima promote the corridor Manzanillo-Costalegre
Both governments signed the agreements of tourism promotion and drinking water supply connections between municipalities
To encourage the consolidation of the Manzanillo-Costalegre corridor as a major attraction for international tourism markets, the governor of Jalisco, Jorge Aristóteles Sandoval Díaz and the governor of Colima, Mario Anguiano Moreno signed in Barra de Navidad, two interstate agreements, one of tourism promotion and the other of drinking water supply connections in between municipalities.
The agreement on tourism development between Jalisco and Colima aims to boost the brand Manzanillo-Costalegre, and position both beach destinations, which will improve the promotion, road infrastructure and air connectivity. In this way, it is intended to make the corridor Manzanillo-Costalegre-Vallarta, the most important in the Pacific.
On the matter of infrastructure, Sandoval Díaz stated that with the support of the President, Enrique Peña Nieto, the Highway 200 will expand, from Manzanillo to Puerto Vallarta. For this, there are already allocated 500 million pesos for its remodeling, the work will have a final budget of three billion pesos and will be completed in the current administration.
It is also sought to strengthen and increase national and international air connectivity.
The Intermunicipal Drinking Water Agreement will provide water to the communities of El Rebalse in Cihuatlán, Jalisco, and La Culebra in Manzanillo, Colima, with which a sustainable supply will be ensured.
During the meeting between the governors, Aristóteles Sandoval announced an investment of 166 million pesos, in a first step, to restore the beach area and clean up the lagoon in Barra de Navidad, which some time ago were affected by the passage hurricane Jova.
The purpose of this investment is to recover tourism and benefit the environment of the coast, the Jalisco governor pointed out that "it is not only about regaining the beach, it is about maintaining its ecosystem, to clean it up, to do a whole project in the basin, it is to make this the most important area of the Pacific, from Puerto Vallarta to Manzanillo, so that investments are ignited here and it returns to being the same as before (Barra de Navidad) ".
The leaders of the two entities that signed the agreement said that the differences between the representatives of Jalisco and Colima have been left behind, for which at this moment they are working with a vision for the future, putting ahead the interest and welfare of the people, through the attraction of investment and the generation of employment.
Besides the governors, the event was attended by, the mayors of Cihuatlán, Jesús Huerta and of Manzanillo, Virgilio Mendoza Amezcua; the District 18 Rep. of Jalisco, Gabriel Gomez Michell; the general secretaries of the governments of Jalisco and Colima, Arturo Zamora Jiménez and Rogelio Rueda Sánchez, respectively; the Secretaries of Tourism of the signatory states, Jesús Enrique Ramos Flores of Jalisco and Hector Faustino Sandoval from Colima; the rector of the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Antonio Leaño Reyes, and special guests.
