Towards equality and gender equity in Puerto Vallarta, as well as the eradication of violence in all its forms, in 2013 the Municipal Institute for Women, strengthened its activities focus on citizenship, having provided a total of two thousand 441 psychological services, legal and nutritional counseling, in addition to the support provided two thousand 162 heads of households.

In this period, also provided training to 121 people in activities for personal and professional development, and conducted 26 awareness workshops in schools in basic and professional level, public institutions and government agencies, and was announced Ariadne Meza Montejano, director the municipal agency.

"Through these actions, we work on the development of preventive strategies with a gender perspective, that promote equality of opportunity and development for men and women," explained the official.

For this purpose, he explained, was offered free counseling psychological matter to those who suffered some kind of violence, which the full recovery not only of women but of the family in general is driven, to have a better quality of life. In this area of ​​care was provided to 351 thousand people during the previous year.

Montejano Meza explained that one of the services that joined in 2013, was the nutritional advice, which was launched in October through workshops on nutrition, meal planning, and attention to the problems of obesity, malnutrition, diabetes mellitus , hypertension, dyslipidemia (high cholesterol) and weight control, with the sole purpose of contributing to the health and welfare of the families of Puerto Vallarta. All these services are offered at no cost to the public through professional in each of the subject.

In the field of personal and professional development, conducts training workshops in computing culture, beauty, jewelery, personal defense, development of piñatas, crafts, make-up and massage, with a cost recovery ranging from 20 to 50 weights and going to pay for materials and instructors.

On the issue of preventive education workshops focusing on students in elementary, middle, high school and college, as well as parents of preschool, where topics such as bullying, values, family violence were addressed were performed, parent relations and child nutrition, dating violence, domestic violence, alcoholism, self-esteem, eating disorders, bringing information to 736 people.

Similarly, were given to 170 members of the Commissariat of Preventive Police and Roads, workshops Gender Equity and Violence, and Constructive Relations, is also working with staff of the Eighth Naval District and coordinating the Jalisco Institute Women, various issues were addressed through the Forum for Equality and Non-Violence, and the Workshop for Prevention and Eradication of Violence.
