Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.- The Women Municipal Institute acknowledged, in 15 different categories, women who have contributed to the development and well being of the community, on the occasion of International Women Day.
Guadalupe Anaya, representing the Mayor, congratulated those receiving recognition, and emphasized the fact that “every woman should be recognized, because as women we all have challenges, but we can make our lives easier by confronting those challenges. The best achievement a woman can reach is to be happy and satisfied with the work she has accomplished”, she said.
Sara Maria Chaves Medina, from Women Municipal Institute, also thanked everyone for their presence at the event and talked about the constant struggle women encounters and their dedication to their area of work.
“We are here today to celebrate and publicly recognize these women we have done everything possible to contribute, with their work, to a better and healthier society; a society of fairness, excellence and warmness ...” said Chaves Medina.
Women recognized at this occasion were: For the Department of Education, Laura Josefina Torres Cortes, Pre-school Supervisor; for the Department of Business, Teresita Marmolejo Lopez, president of CANACO; for the Department of Art, Beatriz Narvaez; Marcela Lepe Quiroz for Culture; Noemi Zamora Reynoso, director of the Tribuna de la Bahia Newspaper, for the Media and Yolanda Sanchez Santiago, President of Mothers United for their Children’s Rehabilitation A.C., for Social Welfare.
Others recognized for their work as social leader were: Lucia Fernando Basilio, from the Nahuatl ethnic, for her work with the indigenous community. At the Military level, First Sergeant Maria del Consuelo Arce Duran, office clerk; at the Naval area, Commander Dulce Maria Vargas Torregrosa; for Civil Protection, First rank Firewoman Dulce Maria Atzimba Rodriguez Santana; Magdalena Avelar Mondragon, from Eloisa Hotel Tourist promoter and Oceanographer Isabel Cardenas Oteiza for Environment and for health, Beatriz Barron Hernandez was recognized.
As for the Sport Category, recognition was made to Volleyball players Nohelia Bustos Lemus, Hortencia Alvarado Rubio, Docelia Castillos Hernandez, Laura Mireya Beltran Rendon, Ramona Martinez Haro, Rosario Zepeda Ruiz, Rosa Maria Rodriguez Mariscal, Elma Rosa Garibay Rodriguez, Maria del Carmen Ramirez Arce and Georgina Doringa Fiqueroa Martine, all from the Volleyball national champions’ Team
