Coordinators from twenty cities from Mexico, Canada and United States, attended this conference, with the purpose exchanging and stimulating links of collaboration with the most important Fairs and Festivals of the country.
Directors of Cultural Institutes, promoters, and administrators from Ontario, Canada; Chicago, United States; October Festival, Guadalajara; Feria de San Marcos, Aguascalientes; Feria de Jalapa, Veracruz; Festival Cervantino from Guanajuato, and Rally from Mexico City attended this important Conference.
The purpose of the Conference was to professionalize the production of popular activities and to encourage a correlation with the citizens. To this purpose, experts in commercialization, and managers, headed by John Sykes, president of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions, talked about the guidelines to strengthen the links between public and private initiatives, in this global era.
Sergio Zepeda, director of Vallarta Institute of Culture, pointed out that the presence of Puerto Vallarta at this conference, gave a good impression to those presents at the conference, given Puerto Vallarta’s success with the First Fire Works International Festival, the only festival of this kind in the country.
At the work table, they all presented their plan of action: its development, management and final results; which will allow the elaboration of a work plan for next year’s second edition of this sort of conferences.
“These kinds of meetings facilitate the creation of strategies with other fairs; it allows the exchanging of talents, resources, and commercial sponsorships. It is an honor to us, that first Fire Work International Festival, Luminiafast, is already part of the group of the most important Mexican Festivities”.
Government priorities are to promote culture and to create a consumer society; reason why, even with little resources, we have been in search of alliances and of the necessary synergy, to boost up the work of creative people, promoters and artists; explained Sergio Zapeda.
The Fireworks International Festival awoke the interest of the private initiative, and it allowed taking the first steps of collaboration with Zacatecas, Jalapa, San Marcos and Saltillo Cultural Institute for future events.
