electronic-waste-collectionOn February 14th and 15th the Fourth Campaign of Collection of Electronic Waste will be carried out, of appliances that have a special handling and that shouldn't be thrown to the normal garbage due to the toxic elements that they contain.

The electronic residue has elements such as lead, aluminum, nickel, cadmium, mercury and other highly toxic metals that should have a special handling to avoid the contamination of the environment and public health.

During those couple of days, all the electronic trash (except for light bulbs, house hold appliances and air conditioners) could be taken to the Management of Environment and Ecology located in the calle Pelícanos #136 in Los Sauces or to the main plaza of Ixtapa in a schedule from 8 in the morning to 6 in the afternoon.

The companies and schools that have a great quantity of electronic residue have to take them to the International Conventions Center, through the main door.

Furthermore, there is a permanent campaign for the collection of batteries, which can be deposited in any of the three Sorianas (Pitillal, Caracol or Playa de Oro). It is only asked that tape is put in the poles.

It is expected to collect at least a trailer full of waste – around two tonnes – to detoxify the municipality. The collection will be carried out in 55 municipalities of the state and it is hoped to gather 150 tonnes.
