Hundreds of people enjoyed the 'Fourth Day of the Dead Festival' organized by the Vallarta Centre Association and the City Hall of Puerto Vallarta, chaired by Ramón Guerrero Martínez, by means of the head of the Municipal Markets, the Department of Census and Licensing, the Vallarta Institute of culture (VIC) and the sub directorate of Education.
The celebration began at 6 pm with the caravan made up of about 50 people, which marched from the Mercado del Mar, to the Mercado Río Cule, wearing typical costumes and skull-painted faces, along with the chanting of the regional school Ignacio Jacobo and riders on their horses.The award ceremony was carried out for the two contests that were held, the first for those who built a catrina between 1.65 and 2 meters from recycled materials, paper, fabric and natural elements, where the winner was Mrs. Celina Landin with the 'Skull Ballerina' and the 5 thousand pesos prize was delivered by the councilman Luis Ernesto Munguia, the second place went to Mr Francisco Echeveste, with the skull 'Rosa Pitillal' with an award for 3 thousand pesos presented by the VIC director Sergio Zepeda, and the third place went to Yadira Ramero with the 'Traveling Skull' who won a thousand pesos.
The other contest was conducted by the association of Central Vallarta, where citizens who visited the elaborate altars in different hotels, were granted a passport with which they participated to earn free nights at the hotels Eloísa, El Pescador, Belmar, Catedral among others, and was headed by the president of the association Liney Cornejo.
In addition attendees could enjoy the different singers who presented themselves, the dance show with horses and the folkloric ballet of the municipality of Xiutla, that presented traditional dances.
