Due to the havoc that the rains have caused by the passage of the weather phenomena "Manuel" and "Ingrid", authorities in Puerto Vallarta have opened collection centers in different parts of the city to support the victims, mainly for the municipalities in the south of Jalisco and Guerrero.
Magaly Fregoso Ortiz, president of the System for Integral Family Development (DIF) of Puerto Vallarta, lamented the situation being experienced by the thousands of families affected in Guerrero, who lost a relative and their heritage, for which she made the support and solidarity extensive to them on behalf of the municipal government and the social welfare institution.
The collection centers are located in the DIF system, at City Hall in Colonia Centro in the Municipal Management Unit (AMU) in the Portales colony where nonperishable food will be accepted until Friday, from 10:00 to 17:00 hrs. Donations are also received at the premises of the Red Cross of Puerto Vallarta, as well as Walmart, Soriana Playa de Oro and Comercial Mexicana of Plaza Marina.
Fregoso Ortiz thanked the support that can be provided by employers, public and private institutions and educational institutions, by providing food.
The essential items that are required to cover the emergency are: tuna, sardines, sugar, salt, coffee, soup, pasta, lentils, canned vegetables, mayonnaise, oil, biscuits, chocolate powder and milk powder for children. The recommendation of the Red Cross is to not send bottled water, clothing, or medicine.
