Earth Hour is an annual international event created by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), held on the last Saturday of March. It asks households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the climate change. In 2009, Marriott International joined the cause and encourages its hotels, Business Councils and units around the world to take part in this event as a kick-off to Environmental Awareness Month. Marriott International designated April as "Environmental Awareness Month" to communicate and celebrate the company's commitment to environmentally responsible operations.
This Saturday at 8:30pm, CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta participated in the Earth Hour by doing the following actions:
1) Exterior lighting – Non-essential external lighting were turned off or dimmed for one hour.
2) Interior lighting and other equipment – Lights inside Outlets; also the foyer, hallways, clerk offices and computer equipments, air conditioned were turned off or dimmed.
3) Guest Awareness – Through Concierge, Recreation, Front Desk, Operators, etc. guests were invited to participate by turning off the lights and invited them to have dinner with us during that hour with 20% off.
4) Associate Awareness and Support – During the 15 minutes daily training, besides Marriott Standards, staff will be encouraged with the environmental basics by Marriott International.
