The monumental catrina of Puerto Vallarta, magnet of the Day of the Dead Festival 2022, established a new Guinness World Record with 22.67 meters high, a historic event in our city that was witnessed by Mayor Luis Alberto Michel.
The measurement of the monumental catrina was headed by the representative of Guinness World Records, Alfredo Arista Rueda, having as witnesses José Arce Aréchiga, president of the College of Civil Engineers of the Coast of Jalisco, and Eng. César Bernal Santana, master in evaluation, and a team of experts in measurement.
The monumental catrina of Puerto Vallarta was the only one that registered to compete on this date and that complied with all the characteristics to be the biggest catrina in the world, and to certify and endorse a drone was used to measure even the highest part of the hat.
Among other rules, the sculpture must have proportional dimensions, that is, it must be a wide version in all dimensions of a normal size catrina sculpture. In addition, designs must be proposed and pre-approved by Guinness World Records before the sculpture is created.
"After gathering the pertinent and accurate evidence we gladly inform that as of today Puerto Vallarta is officially amazing," said Arista Rueda, and handed the recognition to Puerto Vallarta in the hands of Mayor Luis Michel .
"Yes we did it, we achieved the world record, Puerto Vallarta continues to distinguish itself for the things we are doing every day", expressed the mayor with enthusiasm. He emphasized that today Puerto Vallarta has something new to show off to the millions of tourists that visit it every year and anticipated that next year it will seek to surpass this record.
