We enjoy building lasting working relationships with our partners who help us to sustain YCI on a global scale, which is why we were thrilled to receive an update from Marriott’s CasaMagna Resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Following seven graduates from the hotel’s 2014/15 programme, the report gives a picture of day to day life of a YCI participant, the exposure they gain in various departments within the hotel, and the close relationships they build with their mentors. Of the seven graduates, four were hired by the hotel.
Chris, Jose, Noemi, Ana, Samuel, Jonathan and Rodrigo started their journey on September 2014 not knowing how this program will change their lives….
What started as something that will help them to learn about Hospitality became a lifetime experience….
Rodrigo - YCI has been a great opportunity to grow personal and professionally. This program gave me the tools to develop myself in this company or any, the best experience that has happened in my life! I think that is incredible Marriott gave this opportunity, is just wonderful how I was able to learn and have fun at the same time.
Noemi - YCI was for me a great opportunity to my professional development such as to grow as a human being. I learned not only the functions of each area, work as a team and value each of the elements of the hotel. This taught me that whenever one door closes a bigger one will open...
Chris - YCI program was more that I expected! This program has changed my life in many different ways… I noticed that everyone at Marriott loves their job, I learned how to be part of a team, I met many people who have been an example for me. Now I am prepared to start a professional journey.
Jose - Being part of the YCI program was an unique experience! I got new knowledge, new friends, I feel really happy and proud to be part of this wonderful Program. It helped me to develop new skills and
gave me the tools and recourses to be capable. I am grateful to Marriott for the opportunity to start my career as a Mini Bar Agent.

Jonathan - YCI was a unique experience, at first I wasn’t sure about how this will help me, but though time I realized that this program was meant to be, and definitely exceeded my expectations. The knowledge that I gained after passing through this program was so rich, more and better than I expected. CasaMagna Marriott Puerto Vallarta has the best people I ever met in my life.
Ana - YCI was such an amazing experience, I feel very happy and satisfied with all the things I learned and did. What I most enjoy being part of the YCI program that I could learn from all that is involved to serve people. I also learned how do I should prepare for an interview and ask for a job.

Seven graduates this year, four of them are soon to be hired at the front office Food & Beverage and Loss Prevention.
Following the fundamentals of the program, all the students were formed and prepared to be valuable candidates in interviews and develop their own talents and skills. Four of them decided to start their journey at Marriott and the rest will continue preparing themselves for their future.
