The government of Puerto Vallarta that is presided by Ramón Guerrero, through the Commissariat of Preventive and Traffic Police, implemented the operative "Secure commerce", as part of the actions that are carried out to reinforce the security in the municipality to render certainty to the visitors and the general population.

In the operative there is the participation of approximately 70 police officers who carry out rounds on motorcycles, segways and on foot, in the center area and the touristic strip of the city in order to prevent crime. At the same time, the officers interview with the people in charge of the shops, inviting them to actively participate in the security of their businesses, reporting any suspicious act or person immediately when detected, as well as to secure the doors of their shops well, have internal security measures and have the emergency numbers at hand. It should be noted that the vigilance will be reinforced even more at night, due to the fact that crimes or acts of vandalism could present themselves with greater ease, but with the support and coordination of the authorities of the three levels of government, work is being done to reduce the incidents of crime to the minimum and continue maintaining Puerto Vallarta as a safe touristic destination.

Therefore, the Commissariat of Preventive and Traffic Police, headed by Major Rogelio Hernández de la Mata, confirms its commitment with the citizenship and continues with the implementation of different preventive programs and actions, with which it has managed not only to lower the crime index, but also to capture suspects and in this way continue guaranteeing the security of the municipality.
