The Police Academy Qualified More than 900 Officials

police-training-of-900-officers2As part of the process of professionalization of the officers of the Commissariat of Traffic and Preventive Police, the Regional Academy qualified during the year that is ending, a total of 938 officers in diverse subjects contemplated in the National Plan of Public Security.

In this regard the boss of the Academy, Mayor Porfirio Villa Olalde, informed that the qualification courses began on January 14th of 2013 and finalized the past December 20th, and had as an aim to train the public servants in the new police model which includes 51 basic subjects, among them, transparency in police performances, respect to Human Rights, first aid, police tactics and techniques, juridical framework, shooting practice, strengthening of the police performance, social contact, handling and preservation of the scene, rappel, counter-ambush and handling of the suspects.

This training process was aimed at front-line police, second and third officers, as well as commanders and sub-commanders, who randomly assisted these courses in a way that did not affect the service that they provide.

During the whole year, in addition to the program foreseen by the Regional Academy of Police, the uniformed participated in courses – workshops given by the State Commission of Human rights, the Management of Environment and Ecology, as well as the qualification offered by the instructors of the Sheriff's office of Santa Barbara, as part of the agreements of collaboration and fraternity that exist between the U.S. city mentioned above and this tourist destination.

Regarding the educational personnel, the academy currently has 15 instructors of which 10 have their required certifications and in the majority of the cases, their academic level is of a master's degree, others have a bachelor's degree and are currently working on a certificate.

For 2014, the Mayor Porfirio Villa Olalde advanced that there are several projects to expand even more the range of courses that are given to police officers and traffic patrols, in relation to the new justice system of Mexico, police management, update in the functions of public security, the role that the police plays to prevent human trafficking, child prostitution and other subjects of great importance for this tourist destination.
