The month of October and the Mexican autumn
Mexican autumn toasted with bacanora, Sonora's agave distillate, at the interesting local festival in Ures, a city that was the former seat of state powers. Ures seeks to revalue and rescue the building and cultural heritage of the city, to recognize the quality of the Bacanora produced there, in order to establish a new local tradition and obtain the designation as Pueblo Mágico (Magic Town).
Last weekend, October 1 and 2, representatives of the state and municipal governments hosted the First Bacanora Festival in the city of Ures, known as the Athens of Sonora, located a few kilometers from the capital, Hermosillo. The purpose of the event is to raise funds for the recovery and enhancement of the city's heritage, such as the El Urense Flour Mill.
The First Bacanora Festival was sponsored by producers, businessmen, and sponsored by the municipal and state governments, and featured a series of conferences, exhibitions and musical groups in the historic center of Ures. The Association of Bacanora and Maguey Women of Mexico participated in the First Bacanora Festival in Ures, with brands of excellent bacanoras and a presentation by Laura Espinosa Alonso, The steps to formality in the production of Bacanora. Later, at the Flour Mill Museum of Ures, a tasting and sampling of exquisite Bacanoras was held, celebrating the inauguration of the exhibition of paintings by local artists and a photography exhibition "A Look at the Taste of Bacanora, with unpublished images that illustrate the history, tradition and production process of the distilled agave beverage emblematic of Sonora.
The organization of the First Bacanora Festival was the result of a collaboration between the municipal government of Ures, headed by José Manuel Valenzuela and his team led by Ramón Canizales, who made possible the synergy between the various actors involved in the logistics and sponsorships of this long-awaited event.
On Sunday morning, the festival began with a horseback ride from the ranch La Cañada Colorada. During the equestrian ride, visitors toured and appreciated the agave crops, raw material for Bacanora Laguna de Ures, owned by Mr. Ignacio Ramirez, one of the main promoters of this important event. Mrs. Siria de Romo, participant of the Women of Bacanora, and local bacanora producers of the region, among them, Rubén López Hernández, majority shareholder of Sunora, lent their valuable time and effort in this exercise of promotion of the Sonoran culture.
The Bacanora Women presented their products in the exhibition and sale of regional bacanoras, and sponsored tastings and samplings:

The representative of the municipal presidency of Ures, Professor José Manuel Valenzuela, and his wife and president of DIF Ures, Eloyria de Valenzuela, with the support of the state government of Sonora, were the proud hosts of the First Bacanora Festival of Ures, which closed both days with musical entertainment and dance, founding a new local tradition of annual celebration, coexistence and revaluation of the heritage of this next Magical Town of Sonora.
