The main objective is to promote the new flights from London and Manchester to the Rivera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta starting in May 2014.
The World Travel Mart is taking place now through November 7th at the ExCeL London, where 5,000 exhibitors and buyers from around the world have come together to do business. The Riviera Nayarit CVB is representing the Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta tourism corridor and is actively promoting the “Vallarta-Nayarit, Live it to Believe it” joint campaign.
The Riviera Nayarit has set up a stand where it will consolidate business with tour operators as a follow up to the work already done by the Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) during the first two days of the event; the next two days will be dedicated to training the travel agents attending the fair.
The main objective of the CVB’s participation is to spread the word about the new direct flights that TUI will begin from England to these destinations, which came about thanks to the joint efforts of the Riviera Nayarit and the Puerto Vallarta CVBs, along with the unwavering support of the Mexico Tourism Board.
The flights originating at London’s Gatwick airport will begin on May 1st, while those departing from the Manchester Airport will start on the 3rd. These will be weekly flights from each of these airports, which imply stays of one to two weeks at least by our visitors.
“The English market has always been very important to us,” said Marc Murphy, Director General of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB).
“The stays are longer which in turn generates a higher revenue and higher spending in the destination. In the end, we’re looking after the welfare of the people of our State and higher spending means better quality of life for the locals.”The TUI program includes hotels from both tourism destinations and is currently on sale through “First Choice Holidays” and “Thomson Holidays,” considered two of the most important tour operator companies in Europe. “According to a poll conducted by the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau during the first semester of 2013, of all the international visitors outside of North America, the English market represents only 2% of guests,” said Murphy. “This indicates that, with these new TUI flights, we should see a significant increase in this market in 2014.”
