The Municipal Government Drives the Rescue of Public Spaces

The municipal government of Puerto Vallarta, is working on the rescue of green areas and public spaces in the different colonies of the city, with the objective of having optimal places for its use by the population while contributing to the preservation of the environment.

An example of these actions, is the lagoon of Coapinole, where personnel of the Municipal Public Services carried out this Friday, the cleaning and integral rehabilitation of this space, by carrying out the trimming of trees, removal of weeds and trash, painting of tree trunks and tree sprouts, among other things, with which more life is given to this natural site that is visited every day by dozens of children and adults to spend time together and do sports.

Regarding this, the Director of Municipal Public Services, Guillermo Salcedo Contreras, explained that although the rescue actions of green areas is carried out since the beginning of this administration, this work is also part of a program in which each director of the City Hall adopts a city zone for the rehabilitation and conservation of its public spaces, as instructed by the mayor, Ramón Guerrero Martínez.

He stressed that in the case of the lagoon, besides being a meeting place for the neighbors of nearby colonies, is also a place inhabited by species like turtles, fish, white herons and ducks, from there comes the importance of keeping it in the best conditions, for which besides the performed tasks, each week it will be given maintenance, so that it continues being a pleasant place for the population and so that its natural surroundings are taken care of.

Salcedo Contreras, explained that in the last days, 14 species have been rescued "and we are going to continue supporting in whatever way possible all the green areas of the municipality. There are around 350 green areas, for this reason the mayor wants that each director makes himself responsible of a zone to give maintenance to all the parks".

Finally, he invited the citizenship to collaborate with these tasks by not throwing garbage in this space nor in the interior of the lagoon and to not damage the wild fauna in there, "it is only allowed to feed the turtles by throwing tortillas or cookies, but no garbage because in the end it is so that everyone lives well and so that all the citizens have a better quality of life".

In the place there was also the presence, during the development of the day, of the director of the Municipal Council for the Promotion of Sports and Youth Support, Juan Rincón Flores, responsible for the care of this zone, who pointed out that the conservation of the public and sports areas, will be made with the joint effort of the personnel of the different departments, neighborhood groups and general citizenship, "all the departments are fully involved in this project".
