Honduras National Soccer Team faces off against Mexico tomorrow Friday the 22nd of March 2013 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras at 3:00 PM Honduras Time (5:00 PM New York Time).

So yes, this Honduras vs Mexico is a qualifying match for Honduras to get to the world cup in Brazil in 2014.

We all thought that our match vs the USA on February 6th was the key game of the CONCACAF Hexagonal but guess what; it seems that since we defeated the USA (We WON that game playing soccer!) and Mexico did not win its first match of the Hexagonal everyone around the world including ESPN is going crazy because Honduras is in FIRST PLACE in the Hexagonal. Unfortunately they are saying we don’t deserve it and are not world class and if all goes well Honduras will defeat Mexico tomorrow afternoon and everyone will say it was because of the weather in San Pedro Sula (it gets hot there and Mexico is not used to that).

Played by millions around the world, soccer is the heart and soul of Honduras. Even in extremely “down” times, Hondurans will stop what they are doing and watch live on TV, listen to soccer live on the radio and forget all the daily pressures. The country of Honduras actually has decrees presented in Congress on a regular basis to declare “work holiday” during international soccer matches that occur during business hours. The Honduran government, all the way up to the President of the country publicly plea with business to give their valued employees time off for soccer games.

tennis1ACAPULCO, Mexico -- Rafael Nadal advanced to the Mexican Open final with a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Nicolas Almagro on Friday, setting up a championship match against Spanish compatriot and three-time defending champion David Ferrer.

Nadal beat Almagro in 1 hour, 49 minutes to improve to 9-0 in their head-to-head meetings.

Ferrer had to work hard to reach his fourth straight final, edging Italian Fabio Fognini 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-1 in 2 hours, 23 minutes. The turning point was the opening game of the third set when Ferrer fought off three break points to hold serve.

Ferrer has won 19 consecutive matches in this event and on Sunday will be trying for his third title of the year.

Nadal may be the former No.1, but coming back from a long-term knee injury, and playing an in-form rival with an intimidating record at this venue, he knew it would be tough to win on Sunday.

"I'm in no condition to be or even say that I'm the favorite because I'm facing one of the rivals in the best shape of the circuit. Not only he's a great player, he's playing great."

"To win tomorrow I will have to play a perfect match or otherwise it would be impossible to win it. I don't think I'm to his level yet, but I'm ready to give it a try."

Nadal is using the Latin American clay-court tournaments to build up his match fitness as he makes a comeback from knee surgery and set his sights toward the French Open.

"I can't say that the knee is not bothering me, because it is, but that's normal," Nadal said. "It's not stopping me from doing what I want and that's the best thing, that should make me happy".

Nadal has not lost a clay-court semifinal since 2003, and on Sunday will be trying for his 38th career clay title. He has a 16-4 record against Ferrer, including 13-1 on clay, with Ferrer's only win being in their first clash in 2004.

FelixFelix Hernandez and Seattle reached an agreement Tuesday on a contract that makes the Mariners hurler the highest-paid pitcher in baseball.

"I think it's a great thing for the Seattle Mariners," Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik said. "It's a great thing for Felix Hernandez, and I am looking forward to this guy being here for a very long time, obviously."

The terms of the contract were not released by the team, but the deal is expected to be for $175 million over seven years. Hernandez and Zduriencik will hold a news conference in Seattle on Wednesday afternoon where Hernandez is expected to sign the contract.

Earlier Tuesday, Zduriencik said the sides were having significant talks to try to finalize a new contract for the three-time All-Star and 2010 AL Cy Young Award winner. Zduriencik said then that a deal of that magnitude in years and dollars "takes time to work things out."

But it didn't take too long. By the afternoon, Hernandez's deal was done and Seattle had its ace locked up through the 2019 season.

The new contract will encompass the final two years of his current deal that is scheduled to pay Hernandez $40.5 million in 2013 and 2014. He'll receive $134.5 million over the additional five years.

Hernandez's total dollars would top CC Sabathia's original $161 million, seven-year contract with the New York Yankees and his $25 million average would surpass Zack Greinke's $24.5 million under his new contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and tie him for the second-highest in baseball with Josh Hamilton and Ryan Howard behind Alex Rodriguez ($27.5 million). Hernandez's new money would average $26.9 million over five years.

With Hernandez off the market, Detroit's Justin Verlander and the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw become the most attractive pitchers eligible for free agency after the 2014 season. Tampa Bay's DavidRey-Félix-Hernández-660x330 Price is eligible after the 2015 season.

Hernandez, who will turn 27 on April 8, is 98-76 with a 3.22 ERA in eight seasons with the Mariners. He won a career-high 19 games in 2009 when he finished second in the Cy Young voting then won the award a year later when he went just 13-12 but had a 2.27 ERA and 232 strikeouts.

Hernandez appeared to be making another Cy Young push last year before going 0-4 in his last six starts, which left him at 13-9 with 223 strikeouts.

His career record would be even better if he didn't play with one of baseball's worst offenses. Seattle had the lowest batting average in the major leagues in each of the last three seasons. Hernandez has taken 10 losses during that span when he's given up two earned runs or less.

For his career, Hernandez has allowed two earned runs or less in 141 of 238 starts, but the team is only 99-42 in those games due to the offensive problems.

Peralta, who scored both goals when Mexico beat Brazil 2-1 in the Olympic soccer final at Wembley in August, put Santos ahead in the 36th minute and increased their lead from Spaniard Marc Crosass cross in the 73rd of Friday's match at the Estadio Corona.

The Chivas, now under former Santos coach Benjamin Galindo, could have pulled one back in the fourth minute of added time but 99-cap former Mexico goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez saved Luis Perez's weak penalty.

"We had several chances, maybe more than them but we didn't finish and we've got to admit Oswaldo (Sanchez) had a good night," Chivas forward Marco Fabian told Guadalajara's website (www.chivas.mx).

Guadalajara have picked up one point from two matches in the championship since owner Jorge Vergara ended the consultancy of Dutch great Johan Cruyff and fired coach John van't Schip after the Apertura in the first half of the season.

Vergara looks set to become embroiled in a court case with Cruyff after prematurely ending their agreement.
