The Objective of this Commemoration
World Autism Awareness Day is observed on April 2nd each year. It was officially declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007, with the aim of raising awareness and understanding about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), promoting inclusion, and eliminating the stigma associated with this condition.
This day seeks to:
● Raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with autism and their families.
● Promote acceptance, inclusion, and respect for people with ASD.
● Encourage the creation of public policies that ensure comprehensive and accessible care.
● Promote research and access to appropriate treatments.
A well-known symbol is the color blue, which represents autism, and during this date, buildings and monuments around the world are illuminated in blue to show support and solidarity.
