In a modern democracy, the participation of civil society and government action complement each other to improve the population’s living conditions.
I therefore hail the fact that the historic city of Puebla is the venue for the XII Latin American Meeting of Civil Society. As president, I am the first to recognize the importance of organized society.
¨I am grateful to them for becoming involved in the development and design of better public policies, by contributing their creativity and acting with joint responsibility. Organized citizens have been and will continue to be a powerful engine of social change.¨
Within this framework, I hail the key role played by civil organizations in the promotion, respect and protect of Human Rights, to which the government is firmly committed.
I am grateful for the responsible, proactive and supportive role of the thousands of men and women in Latin America, who make service to others their vocation.
