• The councillors of Zapopan presented the initiative to the coordinator of the deputies of the PRI, Miguel Castro
August 20th, 2013. - The municipality of Zapopan sent to the State Congress an initiative to reform the State Law of Ecological Equilibrium and Environmental Protection of Jalisco, to thereby ensure statutory and effective coordination of sustainable impact issues.
The councilor of Zapopan, Laura Haro Ramirez, appeared before the legislative chamber to present the initiative and explained:
"With this we will generate mandatory schemes of coordination in between the three levels of government, municipal, state and federal, and establish regional councils for the protection of the environment".He explained that the law allows the councils to submit draft laws to benefit all of the municipalities, and with this new scheme they can act effectively to prevent ecocide.
Also, the municipalities will no longer be in a state of helplessness, because the municipalities are often the last ones to know about the modifications made by the ministries or state and federal agencies.
Haro Ramirez, accompanied by the Councillor Andrea Marquez Villareal, handed the initiative to the coordinator of the deputies of his party, Miguel Castro Reynoso, who noted that the PRI caucus will present it on Thursday August 22 before the plenary to be turned over to committees for dictamination.
