Sayulita is preparing to receive surf lovers to celebrate the 5th edition of Punta Sayulita’s Longboard & SUP Classic, which will gather more than 60 national and international competitors of longboard and stand up paddle, who will demonstrate their abilities by challenging the ocean waves to take the championship title. It will be held from March 7th through 9th at Punta Sayulita beachfront.
After 5 years of celebrating it, the competition has become one of the favorite amongst professionals in the sport, so much so that it has confirmed participation of the defending champions: Zane Schweitzer, Tony Silvagni, Fernando Stalla, Ryan Helm, Vanina Walsh y Chloe Calmón, as well as those who have risen to the top by winning the title in previous editions, other participants include: Connor Baxter, Mary Osborne, Carren Eudaly, Patricio González, Sean Poynter and Emmy Merrill. Other renowned participants will include Trae Candy, Lina Augaitis, Oliver Parker, Izzy Gomez and Geroges Cronsteadt.
The heats of the competitions will take place all day as sunlight allows.
As it is now custom, additional to surfing, the event will include diverse activities regarding ecology and altruism, such as beach cleaning and a surf clinic for children, and the funds will go to two associations: Reef Check Foundation and Punta Sayulita Foundation, the first one is dedicated to the conservation of two marine ecosystems: tropical coral reefs and the California rocky reefs. On the other hand, Punta Sayulita Foundation focuses in community initiatives in Sayulita and Banderas Bay.
Meanwhile, the musical part of the event will be covered by G. Love & Special Sauce in a free concert. Their music is a mix of funk, hip-hop and blues.
