circo

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- These include Canadian Gilles St-Croix, co-founder of the Cirque du Soleil and creator of the Circo de los Niños (Children’s Circus); U.S. jazzman, Jeff Oster, who has played at the San Pancho Music Festival; and British painter, Daniel Stone, who has exhibited at Bodega 3.

San Pancho is known as the Cultural Capital of the Riviera Nayarit thanks to the concentration of artistic and educational activities in this village.

The creation of civil associations that operate the old warehouses marked the start of what has basically turned this community into a magnet for a broad range of important artists.

The most prominent name among the several artists that have come to San Pancho is undoubtedly that of Gilles Ste-Croix, a world-renowned performer with a 35-year career under his belt. Upon his retirement he decided to create the Circo de los Niños (Children’s Circus) in San Pancho in a bid to give back to the community.

“I came to San Pancho for the first time 15 years ago on vacation and I discovered a very special place, very green and shady, with a lovely atmosphere and lovely people; that’s why I decided to buy a home here 8 years ago,” commented Ste-Croix.

“A little over four years ago I observed how Entre Amigos worked with children and I decided to help teach them what became the first incarnation of the Circo de los Niños. It’s a unique opportunity for them, because there is no other place like this,” added the Canadian artiste.

Another very special visitor is U.S. jazzman Jeff Oster, who has participated at no charge in the San Pancho Music Festival for the past seven years.

“This is one of the most beautiful places in the world and those who live here should be very proud. All the art created in San Pancho has saturated the area with such feeling and creativity; it’s like a society of people all interested in the arts… It’s my favorite spot,” enthused the musician.

Other celebrities including British painter Daniel Stone also have a connection with the area that inspires them to return time and again to exhibit their creations and continue to nourish the Cultural Capital of the Riviera Nayarit.

San Pancho is not the only microdestination of the Riviera Nayarit with a cultural and artistic offering for visitors, but it is, without a doubt, one that has set the standards for others to follow.

SSPUERTO VALLARTA.- This spring there’s plenty to see and do in the Riviera Nayarit, one of the destinations with the most events held practically year round with something for everyone. Keep an eye on our calendar for new events, but in the meantime, here’s a list of what’s up for April.

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- In a recent work visit from Riviera Nayarit Visitors and Convention Center Public Relations Department to New York, a private cocktail party for the New York Press Media was organized. 11 reporters, plus editors and free lance writers, making a total of 20 media personalities, attended the cocktail party. Each one of them has already been in Riviera Nayarit, they already know the destination, the gathering was only meant to bring them up-to-date with what is available at Riviera Nayarit. We expect that, more than 50,000,000 people in the USA would either learn or be reminded of our destination, as a result of this event.

Richard Zarkin, manager of the Public Relation office of Riviera Nayarit Visitors and Convention Center, said that in order to place Riviera Nayarit as the number one reason for Americans to travel to Mexico, is to in a very adequate manner, enhance information on the destination. The challenge, he said, is to do it in a massive way and, at the same time, to target specific markets.

All those who attended the cocktail party are very important, but some are more than others; for example: About.com, has more than 36,000,000 visits; The Daily Beast with more than 8,400.000 visits in a month (VUM); Fodor’s Travel more than 2,600,000 VUM; Jetsetter.com more than 3,800,000 and Vogue which gets more than 1,200,000 visits.

On the list of those who attended the event we also have: Newsweek, Travel & Leisure, National Geographic, New York Daily News, The Atlantic, NBCNews.com, Bridal Guide, The LUSHiousLife, New York Resident, The Daily Meal, NY Observer, Huffington Post and Travel.Yahoo.com. These press agencies have between 100,000 to 500,000 contacts.
Putting all the press agencies together, and adding the visits they all receive, we come up with way beyond 50,000,000 potential visitors who would learn about our tourist destination.

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- The 4th #RivieraNayarit Twitter party will take to the air on Friday, March 20th, this time bringing participants together with the hashtag #RiveraNayaritExtremo in an effort to generate more traffic for the current contest underway for lovers of adventure, extreme sports and Mother Nature.

The Twitter party will start at 11:00 am and last until 1:30 pm on the Spanish language account (@RivieraNayarit). It’s also a great excuse to share your experiences about the destination and learn more about what it has to offer.

“The interaction with our visitors and the community itself that experiences the destination on a daily basis is a very important part of the Twitter party; that way we can get a feel for which activities and experiences are the most popular and thus have a greater awareness when we communicate with everyone,” explained Liliana Lara Guzmán, Marketing Director for the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Among other things, the Twitter party is directed towards the younger crowd in the hopes they will view the Riviera Nayarit as an adventure-filled multidestination, thus positioning it through ecotourism activities including scuba, sky diving, kite surfing, ATVs, zip-lining, rappelling, Fly-boarding and much more.

“We’re convinced that the Riviera Nayarit is a real alternative for both the young and the not so young traveler that seeks adventure on the waves and in the mountains; it’s the perfect synergy for the perfect getaway,” added Liliana Lara.

libro

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- The XV Puerto Vallarta’s International Film Festival presented the book “Italian Cinema’s One Hundred Recipes” last Wednesday, March 11 in the Mini Auditorium of La Costa University (CUCosta). Teresita Marmolejo, President of Puerto Vallarta’s Chamber of Commerce, was present at this event. Maria Sole Tognazzi, film director, presented the book in the name of its author Laura DelliColli.

Sole Tognazzi is an Italian Film Director, daughter of UIgo Tognazzi. Her mother is actress Franca Bettoia. She was the International Film Festival guest of honor. After launching the book, she made the presentation of her film ‘Viaggio Sola’ at the inaugural event.

Marmolejo introduced Maria Sole Tognazzi, enhancing her biography and qualities: She initiated her filming career as director assistant of the movie Crack in 1991. In 1997 she signed the contract to direct her short film Non Finiscequi. She moved on to film C’eroanch’io, in 1999 and Sempre a Tempo in 2000. She received her Golden Globe for C’eroanch’io. In 2003 she made her first long film, Passatoprossimo, with Paola Cortellesi, Claudio Santa Maria and Valentina Cervi; she got the Golden Globe on 2003 for the Best Opera Debut. On the same year she also got the Silver Ribbon as Best New Director.

“The reason why we are here is to talk about a beautiful book titled ‘Italian Cinema’s One Hundred Recipes’” said Sola Tognazzi. “When Laura DelliColli found out I was coming to Puerto Vallarta, she called me to ask if I would like to launch her book; I was thrilled with the idea, and that is the reason I am here today, to present her book; a book I have been familiar with for quite a long time” she continued.

This is a very interesting book. The author is a film newscaster who had the original idea of updating the contents of this book every year; her main purpose is to make a connection of a movie with gastronomy. In the book she narrates the most famous Italian movies – old and new- and explains the history and context of each movie, through recipes of the dishes that appear in that film.
