Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- “Arte y Tango” Art Exhibit has been open to the public in the Naval Historic Museum since last Wednesday, when Artist Inna Elbert and Francisco Medina share their ideas and discuss their art with Puerto Vallarta’s public figures and dignitaries.

The exhibit is being sponsored by Puerto Vallarta Institute of Culture. The exhibit shows Oil on canvas, acrylic as well as some miniature installations on rocks and sea shells.

Inna Elbert is from Kiev, Ucrania; she holds an Engineering and Architect on Furniture design degree from Russia. Came to the United Sates on 1988 to work in the clothing industry; but she fell in love with Puerto Vallarta’s weather, its people and gastronomy during her 2008 visit, and decided to move and live here.

Tango is among her passions; she started by teaching how to dance tango and then started painting on rocks and sea shells. Tango dance and music influence is very visible in her art. She points out that painting is not just one more hobby in her life, but a fundamental part of her life.

Francisco Medina is a young artist from Zacatecas, and a neighbor of Puerto Vallarta since 2009. He studied in Zacatecas Autonomous University of Plastic Arts and graduated as an Architect from Zacatecas Institute of Technology. He has exhibited his work in his home town, Lagos de Morenos, Jalapa, Veracruz and in the Exhibition room of the Mexican Consulate in Chicago.

“Arte and Tango” Exhibit will be open to the public until March 11.

She's a model with a big appetite!

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- Chrissy Teigen is in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with her glam squad for her latest photo shoot (and also for the food).
In a recent Instagram photo, the 29-year-old is pictured with her hair and makeup all done while her hands are clutching her wallet as she looks delightfully at some grilled chicken being glazed in sauce. It seems Teigen is really taking advantage of the local cuisine, sampling from the array of different meats. "Street meat all day!! #stomachofsteel," she captioned the cute photo.

christ1

Before the "street meat" pic, Teigen shared a selfie of herself sporting her new soft brown locks with some fiercely winged eyeliner and the caption, "ARRRRR @davidlopezhair @sjblife @joshrotten."

The model's manager and stylists also took to Instagram, sharing photos of the beautiful scenery in Mexico, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at Teigen's photo shoot.
Bigger than Teigen's appetite is the food enthusiast's love for cooking. In fact, she's confirmed to be working on a cookbook of her own! Mrs. Legend is no stranger to cooking up some of her own delectable dishes such as chipotle chicken, herb branzino and of course, Mama Teigen's lamb recipe.

richardRiviera Nayarit represents the only Mexican destination be recognized with this achievement

Puerto Vallarta, Jal. -- Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau and agency M. Silver/A Division of Finn Partners, have won Gold in the prestigious Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Adrian Awards, making it the only Mexican destination to be recognized with an award from this prestigious association. Announced at the Adrian Awards Gala at the New York Marriott Marquis on February 23, the recognition was for two television segments on Nikon Birding Adventures, America’s top birdwatching show.

The award is a direct result of the on-going mission of Riviera Nayarit to communicate with top tier outlets to generate evocative coverage that conveys the abundance of luxury and nature throughout the destination. As a result of the agency’s management of the development of the filming schedule, Riviera Nayarit showcased its birdwatching with unforgettable images of San Blas to a niche audience.

The two Nikon Birding Adventures episodes each aired five times on the Discovery Channel and Pursuit Channel in 2013 and 2014. The episodes introduce Riviera Nayarit and San Blas as a top birdwatching destination. Increasing visits to San Blas through the promotion of birdwatching, which is often associated with a more affluent and discerning traveler, is seen as a viable tourism development strategy for the destination. According to a U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service study, birdwatchers contributed $36 billion to the US economy in recent years and one in five Americans are identified as birdwatchers.

Discovery Channel is an educational cable channel that reaches more than 98 million households in the U.S., part of its global audience of 431 million homes in 170 countries. Pursuit Channel reaches more than 38 million households and is the only outdoor network delivered on DISH and DIRECTV’s BASIC package, channels received by every subscriber regardless of their level of service. As a result, San Blas showed a 32.18 percent increase in the number of visitors over the previous year, which the destination credits to the TV program.

The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International has presented marketing and public relations awards for 58 years. The Adrian Awards competition is comprised of multiple categories in three entry divisions: advertising, public relations and web marketing. It recognizes the outstanding marketing campaigns that influence American consumers and best support the business goals of global tourism destinations and hospitality entities. This year’s contest attracted nearly 1,000 entries from around the world, with entries judged by top executives from all sectors of the industry. With more than 30 countries participating in the competition, HSMAI’s Adrian Awards are considered the most prestigious in the hospitality industry.

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- The Riviera Nayarit was the only destination in Mexico that took home one of the 248 Gold Awards bestowed globally; this is the third HSMAI award for the destination but its first Gold Award—the destination took home the Bronze Award a year ago and Silver in 2009.

The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau and M. Silver - A Division of Finn Partners, their public relations agency for North America, received the coveted Gold Award conferred during the prestigious HSMAI (Hospitality, Sales and Marketing Association International) Adrian Awards.

The award was for the Public Relations category, specifically for the “Riviera Nayarit on Discovery Channel’s Nikon Birding Adventures” program, which aired in 2013 and 2014.

Only one thousand candidates from more than 30 countries were invited to participate, out of which only 248 received the Gold Award. The Riviera Nayarit was the only Mexican destination to receive this recognition from the association that qualifies the best campaigns in the Public Relations, Digital Marketing and Advertising industries for the past 58 years.

“It’s a great honor to win the Gold on this occasion, a feat that points to the excellent collaboration between the Riviera Nayarit CVB and M. Silver. At the end of the day, what’s most important is that these Public Relations campaigns achieve their objectives; receiving these awards undoubtedly confirms their excellent results,” commented Marc Murphy, Managing Director of the Riviera Nayarit CVB.

This Gold HSMAI Adrian Award is the first gold but the third award in general for the destination, as the Riviera Nayarit took the Silver HSMAI Adrian Award in 2009 and the Bronze HSMAI Adrian Award a year ago.

The Riviera Nayarit CVB’s Public Relations Department recently coordinated a new film production headed by James Currie, producer and host of the “Discovery Channel’s Nikon Birding Adventures,” the motive behind the award received this past February 23rd in New York City.

These actions help the Riviera Nayarit continue to position itself among the top destinations in the world.

Is there anything better than a stroll on the beach with a beautiful sunset on a warm Vallarta evening? Many people have mobility limitations that in the past made that experience unattainable.

With Beach Crossers in town, people who could not get to the beach in the past are taking an evening “roll” with family and friends.

Beach Crossers launched their business last summer and immediately began to get calls and requests through their website.

The owners, Terrie and Sheri were inspired to start this venture by their mom, Shirley, who unfortunately passed away before they got started. According to Terrie, “She will always be part of the business. She taught us to care about others, follow our dreams, and that we were capable of doing great things if we were willing to work hard.”

There are 4 manufacturers of wheelchairs specially designed for use on beach surfaces. Beach Crossers is now the national distributors for 3 of them here in Mexico.

1. The Debug wheelchair is great for most people. It has big balloon tires and scoots across sand and cobblestone with ease. It fits through standard sized doors without removing the wheels. It has an elevating foot rest and comes with a cup holder and umbrella.

2. The Hippocampe will meet the needs of a select few. It is low to the ground for easy transfer to the sand, kayak or jet ski. It is meant to be self propelled by the client that is used to getting around without assistance. If you have perfected your “hop,” this chair is the right choice for you. It also fits through a standard door without removing the wheels.

3. The Sand Rider is a sporty choice. With a high seat, this chair is easy to get in and out of. It crosses the sand and cobblestone easily. It has a comfortable relaxed seat position and comes with a cup holder.

Beach Crossers has helped many people to the beach since last summer. Zach, a 21 year old young man who has lived his life in a wheelchair, Nicole, an adorable little one who spent the day in a beach stroller, Anita and Wayne who each had injuries on the 2nd day of vacation.

It’s not just the person sitting in the chair that benefits. Lawrence brought his 90 year old blind mother to Vallarta and having a beach wheelchair was really helpful. Mike had his granddaughter, Lindsey, 12, who has Cerebral Palsy.

Terrie, one of the owners says, “The best part of Beach Crossers is when we take the chairs to one of the resorts and find someone to give it to for the day. We’ve seen so many tears of joy since we started that I really look forward to this being my future.” We watched one day as Terrie and Sheri found just such a person. This elderly gentleman was at Paradise Village poolside with his family. Terrie approached and offered the Sand Rider for the day. The gentleman was nonverbal, but his smile and the smiles of his family members spoke of memories that will last a lifetime.

What’s ahead for Beach Crossers? According to Sheri, “We are planning to get an accessible van so we can help our clients get around Vallarta a bit easier.” This is good news for locals and tourists alike as finding a ride when you are not able to get out of your chair is more than challenging.

We can’t wait to see what’s ahead for Beach Crossers. We are lucky to have this family and this business in our community.

Beach Crossings has a large inventory of all types of mobility equipment. Check out Beach Crossers for more information.
