Puerto Vallarta’s Garden Club planted the bougainvilleas in the so-called ‘romantic area’ in Olas Altas. They also give them adequate maintenance. When the plants were donated by several establishments they were offered a short training on planting and irrigation.
"Roberto Price, Botanist, and some other foreign friends started the Garden Club of Puerto Vallarta. They got the idea of the Festival as a mean to raise funds for planting and maintaining flowers."They chose the bougainvillea because of its colorfulness and because they bloom within a year and do not need much water."
Price talk about how this year the Festival will be geared towards children. On Saturday, May 2nd from 6:30 in the afternoon in the area of the lighthouse, there will be an exhibit with recycled material and natural flowers as well as free workshops for children and parents on Ecology.
The Organizer Committee members are: Enrique Tovar, Alejandra Flores Tino, César Langarica Santana and members of Puerto Vallarta’s Garden Club.
