A Community-driven Effort for a Cleaner Future
On Thursday, June 29, a dedicated group of over 50 students, teachers, and staff from UNIVA (Universidad del Valle de Atemajac) gathered at 7 am, armed with a determination to tackle the ever-growing trash problem. Their collective efforts resulted in the impressive collection of approximately 95 bags of trash, including the removal of countless cigarette butts. The clean-up operation spanned various areas, including the streets of Universidad del Valle de Atemajac, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and Av. Palmeras, leaving these spaces cleaner and more inviting for all.
Leading the charge was Dr. Luis Ignacio Zúñiga Bobadilla, the Campus Director of UNIVA, along with Mr. Julián Barraza Ruelas, the head of Higher Secondary Education, and Lic. Ana Leticia Chávez Rochín, the head of Higher Education. The participation of these esteemed individuals underscores the commitment of UNIVA to making a tangible difference in their community.
The clean-up initiative brought together a team of dedicated teachers, including Júpiter Osoria Fernández, Manuel Ernesto Becerra Bizarrón, Ramón Valdez López, Pedro Ignacio Godínez Martínez, Germán Contreras Loza, and Lizeth del Rosario Arce Vázquez. Their active involvement demonstrated their dedication to instilling values of environmental stewardship among their students and setting an example for others to follow.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the exceptional coordination of José Luis Castellón Torres, the Integral Development Coordinator at UNIVA. His tireless efforts in organizing the clean-up showcased his commitment to fostering a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
The significance of this collective endeavor cannot be overstated. By actively engaging in the "War Against Trash," UNIVA has not only contributed to the immediate improvement of their surroundings but also set an example for the wider community. The clean-up operation serves as a reminder of the importance of taking responsibility for our environment and the impact of our actions on the world we inhabit.
Moving forward, UNIVA's commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement will continue to be at the forefront. Through similar initiatives, education, and advocacy, they aim to empower individuals to become agents of change and actively participate in preserving the beauty and cleanliness of their surroundings.
In conclusion, the collaborative efforts of UNIVA's students, teachers, and staff in the ongoing "War Against Trash" demonstrate their dedication to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment. By actively addressing the trash problem in their community, UNIVA sets an inspiring example for others to follow. With continued commitment and engagement, UNIVA is making a significant impact in their quest for a cleaner world.
