In order to promote the historic center of Puerto Vallarta, and the commercial areas that are in the area, a series of strategies that consist of posters, brochures and maps that contribute so that more domestic and foreign tourists visit these places has begun.

The municipal government headed by Mayor Ramon Guerrero Martinez, concerned about the economy of the people of Vallarta, through the Municipal Tourism Management headed by Carlos Gerard, together with the Convention and Visitors Bureau of the city, began planning since about five months ago a number of strategies with all the people of the municipal market of Puerto Vallarta to give a new twist to the image of the market and get a greater influx of visitors.

"We designed posters showing the shopping area of Puerto Vallarta that is being promoted, this is part of the effort made towards advertising the historic city center, we are also distributing flyers in both English and in Spanish for visitors", said the head of Municipal Tourism.

These products will be distributed in all the hotels, travel agencies and time shares; in some strategic points such as the Port Administration, in different leasing agencies and businesses that capture a lot of domestic and foreign tourists, with the aim to get people out of their hotel and have them visit the historic city center.

In the brochures there is a map of downtown Puerto Vallarta, which allows tourists to move around the shopping areas, explained Carlos Gerard. He also reported that further on, some kind of signposts will be placed, for any tourist who walks where the Buenaventura hotel is located up to the Romantic Zone, and gets to know shopping areas located in a 4 block radius of where he is found.

"It's like a theme park, you visit the center and it will indicate you're here, and that map will have in detail all the shops, restaurants, taverns, service providers, bars and shops that are in a four block radius, in order that tourists know what's around the boardwalk of Puerto Vallarta" noted the Municipal Tourism Director.
