The Thanksgiving Day is a great family celebration regularly, where people get together with family and close friends around the table to share a feast and offer a brief prayer of thanksgiving.

In most households, the main course is a big baked turkey accompanied with a filling made cornbread and sage. It is traditionally served with jelly or cranberry sauce with vegetables such as green beans, sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. For dessert, pumpkin pie is the most popular. Also popular are the pecan pie and apple.

After dinner, for many the favorite diversion is to see football games on television. Most businesses and offices are closed that day. The Friday following the party's traditional opening of the holiday shopping season. This day is known as Black Friday. Warehouses and stores offer bargain prices and people flock to the malls.

Thanksgiving with the Independence Day, is considered by many to be the favorite holiday of the United States, mostly because it brings together all the loved ones around the table for dinner.

Every year a grand parade is carried through the streets of Manhattan, New York, which attracts millions of people on Broadway to see the huge giant balloons and witness the guest performances.
