An Interview with Celeste Innocenti.

Celeste Innocenti is an actress, playwright, singer, theater director, musician and lover of the Arts in general. Originally from the United States but with a cultural heritage from Italy and Armenia, she already has permanent residence in Mexico and has lived in Puerto Vallarta for 7 years, which she has dedicated to forming a theater group and supporting the performing arts in general.

“There are many groups that make good theater here in Puerto Vallarta, people who have won many awards” - said our foreign artist who already feels part of the cultural community of Puerto Vallarta.

For Celeste, Art is fundamental for human life, it can even save lives unlike commercial works that are only to make money. She even regrets that in her country of origin, the USA, as well as Canada, there is not enough vision and emphasis to sustain the development of Art, for these countries Art is another option to make money. Despite this, in San Diego, California, she participated in the production of several works of the Greek Theater with great success.

“The Art of Theater, like all Arts, is a Shamanic Act, it is something that is for the healing and healing of the spirits of the Public.”

Celeste is 67 years old, and despite already belonging to the third age, she feels jovial and strong to develop her projects with the passion that they require to flourish. She told us about the Catharsis that is experienced in the development of a work, the emotional connection between the public and the actors is crucial for the healing of intersubjective energy.

“If you think that Theater is for tourists and that it is for selling, the truth is that Theater is Divine”

Celeste tells us that it is very difficult to make money with Art but not impossible. Now she is doing works with her Theater group called Renacimiento, with which she has different projects for the local scene. She feels happy to live in Puerto Vallarta because there is a lot of artistic talent and therefore there are many artists who produce art, despite the shortcomings, there is much more development of art than in San Diego in the USA.

For Celeste there are 2 types of theater, the commercial one like the one presented in Act II and there is another type which is creative theater that is generally developed through performances without specific forums. She is currently developing with her group Renacimiento a play that is a comedy of modern art in Puerto Vallarta, through the multiculturalism offered by the fact of having various foreign actors, the play is called Elixir de la Juventud. This play will have its season in the month of June in a luxury residence in Conchas Chinas.
