Embracing Joy and Togetherness: Elderly Folks Take the Floor Every Thursday

Every Thursday afternoon, men and women from the elderly community gather with the joy of embracing the moment and dancing through the beautiful journey of life. In a celebration of existence, the elderly mix their emotions, coming together to revel in the joy of living.

With a live band and musicians who are also part of the elderly community, the rhythm of Danzón fills the air and warms the hearts of every attendee. They find their partners and make their way to the dance floor, which happens to be the plaza just outside the Municipal Presidency of Puerto Vallarta.

Some couples gather to learn to dance together, while another group follows the lead of a Danzón teacher. Yet, there are also those who choose to sit on the benches and observe the dances of others, while a final group engages in the dance with devotion and passion.

As the dance comes to an end, the musicians retire, but the celebration continues. A sound technician connects the speakers to keep the festivities alive, ensuring the party and the bliss of existence carry on. The rhythm shifts, and the attendees prepare to enjoy popular music genres such as cumbia, salsa, merengue, and even the famous country tunes of Caballo Dorado. As night falls, the elderly folks dance their final song, carrying the memories of this evening in their hearts as they return home.
