Mauricio Ferrer. - The State Council for Economic Development (CEPE) yesterday launched a program of 35 million pesos in grants for entrepreneurs of micro-and small enterprises.

"It is not a gift, it's purpose is to generate more and better jobs," said the Secretary of Economic Development of the State Government, José Palacios Jiménez.

The director of CEPE, Luis Enrique Reynoso Vilches, explained that the 35 million fund was made possible thanks to a program that the previous administration developed with the National Foreign Trade Bank (Bancomext) to support exporters.
He explained that during the handover process between the previous government and the current it was detected that some resources had been recovered which could conform the new fund for entrepreneurs and micro and small businesses.
"It's a recovery fund with Bancomext. Within the handover process we spotted this fund, we consulted with Bancomext, and we saw that the program had served its purpose, the necessary arrangements were made and Bancomext approved the return of the resource", according to Reynoso.

With 35 million, both CEPE and the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco) of Jalisco intend to benefit 400 companies.

Reynoso Vilches explained that the program seeks to support productive projects that have a regional impact in strategic sectors such as automotive, gourmet, information technology, furniture and decor, creative industry, the green energy alternatives, biotechnology and rural tourism.

Those wishing to compete for the resources of that millionaire fund must submit them within a period not exceeding 30 days, via the Internet at www.cepe-emprendedores.org-a project in any of the two categories (entrepreneurs and micro and small companies).

In the category "Entrepreneurs" applicants must demonstrate that their projects have a regional, sectoral or local impact. The same requirement will be for those who compete in "Micro and Small Companies", but they must also ensure that their projects are integrated into a production chain and accompanied by a letter of support from the municipality.

Each applicant may request funds for any of the seven categories in which the supports are distributed. Candidates may compete for funds either for training, professional services, machinery and equipment production, productive infrastructure, computer equipment, software and marketing.

The CEPE director said that the program will be shielded against corruption and that the applicants may only submit an online registration without any direct contact with public agency officials.

The support in the category of "Entrepreneurs" will be of up to 75 thousand dollars, and in the "Micro and small companies", the amount will be of up to 150 thousand pesos.

"There will not be a support of 100% , the project should be completed with our own resources", added Reynoso.

After 30 days, when the convocation ends, a technical committee will evaluate each project in the 15 following days and will decide which companies will be deserving of support.
