RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL (21/SEP/2012.) - FIFA rejected offer new alternatives for the name of the mascot of the 2014 World Cup, despite the dissatisfaction expressed by many Brazilian fans three options that have undergone popular vote.

The possibilities offered by FIFA to name the armadillo are Amijubi, term that combines the words "friendship" and "Glee"; Fuleco, combining "football" and "ecology" and Zuzeco, arising from "blue" and "ecology" .

Several Brazilian media have reflected the discontent of fans for these three options, because they are difficult to produce cacophony pronunciation or Portuguese.

In relation to complaints, FIFA and the Local Organising Committee said they were "really happy" with the way in which the Brazilian public "has assumed for himself the property" of the pet.

On Sunday it was officially announced that the pet will be an armadillo and, since then, there have been 115,000 votes in the World's web site, officials said.

FIFA said it is not possible to carry out a process of open choice of the name "the complexity" would raise the registration process and intellectual property law worldwide.

Also, the agency rejected the pet simply call "armadillo", as suggested by several fans, by the same legal problems.

World Cup organizers analyzed nearly 450 names and finally chose the three options mentioned: Amijubi, Fuleco and Zuzeco.

The mascot is an armadillo three bands (the Tolypeutes tricinctus), an endemic species in danger of extinction in Brazil, which is known for its ability to protect themselves in a spherical shell, which somewhat resembles a soccer ball.
