Speed & Splash on the Bay!!!

On Saturday March 9th at 8:00 a.m. the Sayulita competition started, with the presence of the authorities of Sayulita.

The beach was filled with people from different countries who arrived earlier to be on time for the Surfing Event.

This beautiful town was a colorful place, filled with happy people, in a family environment, The winners of this event were: Elite Race (Men) First Place: Fernando Stalla, Second place: Zane Schweitzer, Third Place , Ryan Helm. Elite Race (woman) First Place Fiona Wylde, Second place Sofia de Wolf, Third place Bailey Rosen.

The success of this event was made possible by the sponsors support, like Corona, Jack Daniel's, Roxy, and many others, to benefit the THERA Surf foundation.

The first activity started on march 8 th with a surfing clinic for special needs and underprivileged children under the supervision of the renowned Malibu, CA, longboard surfer, Jimmy Gamboa, and members of his THERASurf Foundation along with other participating professionals and instructors from local Sayulita surf schools..

The Punta Sayulita Foundation (“PSF”) is a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of supporting various community initiatives for the town of Sayulita and the Bay of Banderas area. Initiatives include educational programs for environmental awareness and protection including, but not limited to, the Reef Check Eco-Diver Program.

Now in its 4 Th year, The Punta Sayulita Classic is regarded as one of the premier international surfing and stand-up paddle (SUP) events in North America. This event attracts thousands of spectators and one of the deepest international fields of professional athletes and amateurs competing in longboard and stand-up paddle (“SUP ”) surfing contests as well as in an array of exciting offshore SUP distance races .

The Punta Sayulita Classic brings together the spirit of competition and a call for environmental awareness.

Surfing is one of the main attractions of this town, and lovers of this sport come here from all over the world with their boards, their tanned skin and their passion for adrenaline to participate in a sacred gathering with the ocean, while the sound of drums blends in with a relaxing stroll along the beach.
