In a first for Asia, Taiwan's Constitutional Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage on Wednesday, punctuating a yearslong campaign by advocates for gay rights in one of the continent's most liberal democracies.

As part of the efforts to mark International Day Against Homophobia Wednesday, the Museo Nacional de las Culturas offered a fantastical tour of the history of drag queens from cultures around the world, including Rome, Greece and Japan.

May 17 celebrates the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, which aims to raise awareness for LGBTQ rights.
