Puerto Vallarta is a resort town on Mexico’s Pacific coast, in Jalisco state. It is known for its beaches, water sports and nightlife scene. Its cobblestone center is home to the ornate Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe church, boutique shops and a range of restaurants and bars. El Malecón is a beachside promenade with contemporary sculptures, as well as bars, lounges and nightclubs.
We spent 8 nights in Puerto Vallarta in July 2023 and we engaged many different activities while we were there, such as: beach hoping, snorkeling, ziplining, hiking and food tasting. Some of the best restaurants we recommend in PV are: Barcelona Tapas (amazing food and incredible scenic views of PV), Ono Smoothie Bowls for a healthier breakfast, Tuna azul for great Mexican cuisine, La Capella for breakfast or dinner with panoramic views of PV, Macareno for an authentic Mexican breakfast, Maria Baja, Pancho Tacos and palmar Seafood for Mexican cuisine (dinner), Casa Nicole restaurant for breakfast, Tacos de Birria Banquito for traditional birria tacos and La Palapa for seafront breakfast or lunch.
For the activities, I highly recommended doing a beach hopping tour (we took an Uber to Boca de Tomaclan and rented a private boat to take us to other beaches for 5 hours for about $1500 Mexican pesos, we visited: Colomitos, Madagascar, Los Animas and Caballo beaches). We also recommend taking a day to visit Yalapa for the beach and the waterfall (we took a water taxi to Yalapa from Boca de Tomatlan and while there we booked a horse-riding tour to take us to the nearest waterfall). The Alma show by rhythm of the night show is also recommended, along with ziplining in Canopy river. Lastly, if you are up for a hike, The Mirrador El Cerro de La Cruz provides 360 views of Puerto Vallarta,
