Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - leave the resort and explore!

Puerto Vallarta and the coastline that surrounds it offers dozens of different beaches and we had a great time exploring all of them.

We stayed in Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio in Zona Romantica.

Zona Romantica is the oldest part of Puerto Vallarta. Its compact neighborhood is easily walkable.

Zona Romantica is densely populated with boutique shops, spas, art galleries, restaurants and street food stands.

We had a pleasant and relaxing stay at Hotel Boutique Rivera Del Rio. Every corner of this hotel is unique, beautifully designed and the staff is so kind and friendly. The hotel itself is well laid-out, and decorated throughout with gorgeous and unique art. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool lovely and warm.

We took the Yelapa and Majahuitas Tour through Vallarta Adventures primarily for the snorkeling and hiking to the Waterfall. Nestled in the southernmost part of Banderas Bay is the secluded village of Yelapa which is only accessible via boat.

You begin with a boat ride out to a cove near the beach of Majahuitas to snorkel. We had at least an hour to snorkel. Their equipment is good and sanitized. You can even buy a brand new snorkel of your own if you don’t want to use theirs.

Lunch is served after the snorkeling. They give you a nice selection of breads, meats and toppings to make nice sandwiches. There was some roasted vegetables and shrimp plus a brownie for desert.

After lunch, you go into the town of Yelapa to see the Waterfall. Their website calls this a hike but it is really a short walk through the town. The Waterfall is beautiful.

We had a nice crew and they performed a Rolling Stones medley on the way home that had us laughing.
