Vallarta Fencers in Action.

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, the 3rd local fencing tournament was held in Puerto Vallarta, featuring fencers in the "cadets" category. It is important to recall that the sport of fencing has been present in Vallarta for a couple of years, and during the recent holidays, there was a training camp in the United States that included prominent Vallarta fencers. Now is the time to put into practice the knowledge acquired and determine who excels in this discipline through their dedication, effort, and talent.

Competitive experience is essential for applying everything learned during training sessions, and these tournaments form a part of the youngsters' preparation for the upcoming competitive season. Jenny Lobato, the instructor and promoter of "Esgrima Vallarta," commented on this.

The event took place at the COMUDE facilities, where several young enthusiasts regularly train in this remarkable discipline. The director, Álvaro Botello Gómez, has committed to elevating sports to their highest levels with a strategic plan aimed at helping athletes reach levels they didn't think were attainable. To achieve this, the first step is to promote fencing classes and instill discipline in athletes because without discipline, great achievements are not possible – virtues that underpin every athlete's success.

Fencing classes are held on Tuesdays from 4 to 6 pm and are taught by instructor Jenny Lobato.

The competition results were as follows:

1st place: Sebastián Peña

2nd place: Hugo Joya

3rd place: Etienne Smith

3rd place: Jonathan Reyes

5th place: Regina Montiel

6th place: Greta de León

7th place: Julieta de la Torre

8th place: Iballa Finer
