Puerto Vallarta Government Launches Pilot Program for Senior Citizens
Senior citizens require motivation to continue enjoying the beautiful life. That's why the Municipal Government of Puerto Vallarta has launched the pilot program "Sports is Life," which involves providing free sports classes for senior citizens. This program promotes physical activity and sports as a means of social inclusion and as a tool to improve the health and well-being of senior citizens through sports activities and physical fitness courses and workshops in the green spaces and areas provided by the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Sports Council (COMUDE).
The goal is to encourage the community of senior citizens aged 50 and above to engage in physical activity and sports through various courses and workshops that include not only sports but also dance, recreation, water activities, and psychology.
During a press conference at the Municipal Presidency of Puerto Vallarta on September 11th, María de Jesús López Delgado (Chuyita), President of DIF, announced that the program will start on September 18th and will run for 3 months, ending on November 24th of the same year. Álvaro Botello, the director of COMUDE, assured that this sports project will be professional, fun, and functional for senior citizens.
The "Sports is Life" program is an act of justice for senior citizens, as they are the most vulnerable population, as mentioned by Julián Antonio Cota Castro, coordinator of the DIF day center.
